In July, members of the Boston Children’s Chorus (USA) and students from Granville South Creative and Performing Arts High School (Sydney) came together at UNSW Sydney to discuss some of the most intractable human rights challenges of the present day.
Working with ASPIRE at UNSW Sydney, the groups developed a manifesto, and pledged to take specific action on each of the challenges: the Right to Water, the Right to Vote and Participate, Indigenous Rights, the Right to Healthcare and Crossing Borders.
Through the manifesto, the groups also call on our schools, universities, communities and governments to do the same.
The manifesto’s ideas were shared with UNSW Sydney President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Jacobs, as part of the call for all universities to show leadership on human rights, through research, education and investment.
